My dream was kind of complicated (as they often are). Me and a bunch of random people are in New York in this big room or house somewhere. I see cake in the next room and say, "Ouu, cake, I want cake!" so I go in there and people are singing "Happy Birthday" and I discover it's my best friend Julia's birthday. So I start singing it also and so does she, harmonizing really badly on purpose and we laugh.
Then I'm in an airport or some giant building, in a long hallway with a water fountain and an elevator at the end. The elevator is blocked by a plastic case of brochures and a rope across it. I somehow get the idea into my head to throw a party in there and so does this nearby lady (who looks like my adult friend Abbie's sister, Laura). So we move the stuff out from in front of the elevator and start making a list of people and things to do on what looks like a bowling scorecard. Then Abbie herself is there and she admires the list and there are already a bunch of things on there (I guess people signed up when we weren't looking).
Then I'm on a balcony that lights up and it's night, and I'm looking over New York, and Brenda Song and some random guy are dancing behind me. I want to know if there's anyone else on their own balcony and they see me so I yell "Hi, everybody! Hi!!"
Apparently the whole time I was on vacation, because my dad and I are about to go up an escalator in an airport. We both really don't want to go. He says, "I tried to get a later day, but this is the only one that would work" (or something like that). Then a random guy hands me like 3 party dresses and I have no idea what to do with them so I say to Brenda, "What do you think of these dresses?" and she says "Spaghetti-strapped?" with sort of a disgusted look on her face.
That's really all I remember.
Meaning- Since it was a birthday party, the dream may be pointing out the end of a particular phase in my life and the start of a new one. The electric light-up balcony may imply that I have a flash of inspiration or arrive at a profound insight. Also, the cake in the dream suggest rewards, "taking the cake" implying the winner.
