Cats and Dads

I had this dream Friday night-
1st part: I'm at my dad's house in St. Paul, and for some reason it's a cat shelter/care-taking place. Many cats are outside; they are trained to stay there and in eye-shot. I'm by the back door, and I see a big fire coming (a forest fire?). So I start panicking a bit and I'm saying, "I need to get all those cats inside!!" and my dad says, "No, I don't think that fire is going to come here," or something like that (in real life, if he were in this situation he would not say that). But I'm still worried, so I run out there and try to get all the cats to go inside. I successfully lead most of them in, or so I think; I go out into the alley and there are lots of others there. So I have to try and get those ones inside also. By the time I get them all (or at least, most of them) inside, the fire is gone. I guess my dad was right, again.
2nd part: I'm at a swimming pool with some people; I think some of them are some of my family. The others are my friends. Besides us, the pool is desolate. I think it's supposed to be like our high school or something, because there is a middle school right next to it (weird reason, but then again, it's a dream). It's time for lunch, and I don't have anything I seem to like. I want to go into the middle school to get some of what they're having for lunch. I go in and pretty much all I do is slide around on the floor and on the tables. No one's staring or seeming to see me. As I walk out the door, this lady says some things to me and thinks I'm a fourth grader. The doors are those automatic ones you see in stores. I go back to the swimming pool and do things I don't remember.

Meaning- Cats are associated with positive qualities of creativity, mystery and independence. I actually volunteer at a cat shelter, and a few cats I actually recognized. My relationship with my dad is good, so he was a benign figure. Dads in dreams also represent guidance, justice and protection. Swimming pools may be symbolizing a relaxing place when uncomfortable. Automatic doors, rather than ones I can open myself probably represent ease or laziness.
